Pet dogs are not safe in Nigeria, let alone pet pigs or pet goats.

I was watching NatGeo Wild the other day and the show was pets. A man wanted a pet for his 5year old daughter. of all the animals in the world, he got her a pet goat. the goat followed her around like Mary's little lamb in the popular nursery rhyme.

All the while I was looking at the goat and imagining a pot of hot goat head pepper soup 'isi ewu' or a well prepared pot of 'nkwobi'. or maybe vegetable soup prepared with goat meat, or goat stew... the list was inexhaustible, but they all ended with me eating the goat and not having it as a pet.

I don't think any right thinking average Nigerian would keep a goat or a pig as a pet, even if you are insane enough to try, your neighbours would ensure that such a pet gets missing one day, and I would not blame them.
